About the Faculty
Michael Ricci (Director of Theatre) has a BA in Theatre from SUNY Plattsburgh, New York, and an MFA in Directing from Florida State University. Originally from New York, where he received most of his early training in theatre, he studied with Stella Adler, The Actors and Directors Lab, HB Studios, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, The Actors Studio, The Alvin Ailey and Martha Graham Dance Schools and The New School. He has taught theatre classes at Florida State, Penn State, University of Louisville, Winthrop College and Barber-Scotia College, in addition to numerous workshops in acting, directing, theatre production, and playwrighting for schools and theatres around the country.Some of the positions he has held include director of the apprentice program at Actors Theatre of Louisville, (where he also had the opportunity to work with the Moscow Art Theatre), Artistic Director of York Little Theatre in York, PA, Old Courthouse Theatre in Concord, NC: and Atlantic Theatre Company, Fort Myers, FL; and Production Manager / Technical Director for Charlotte Repertory Theatre, Charlotte NC.
He has directed over one hundred productions in nearly every kind of theatre, from high schools and college / university theatres, to community theatres and professional regional theatre.
Since the HCC Theatre program is currently a one-person department, Mr. Ricci oversees all of the various elements of production and curriculum, continuing improvements he has begun in each area.
