Student Employment
Students must apply for financial aid using the FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Student Aid, to determine eligibility for employment. Having work-study listed on an award letter does not guarantee employment. Eligible students must also complete a separate work-study application and secure employment. Job information will be sent to students before the start of fall semester. HCC employs 200-250 students who work part-time (approximately 10 hours per week) during the school year. Most jobs are on campus, and students currently earn between $7.00 and $8.00 per hour. Students are paid every two weeks.
If work-study eligibility does not appear on your award letter, contact the financial aid office to determine if you are eligible.
Summer employment is available for needy students who have applied for financial aid for the coming school year before May 1. Summer workers are expected to save as much as possible toward their upcoming school expenses.
