Getting Involved
Welcome to HCC's Theatre

The theatre department at HCC stages a season of productions each year. During the seasons we are able to showcase talent not only from the college but also the community. Members from the student body as well as the community are invited to participate in all phases of theatre production, from scene construction to starring roles.
From this web page you will be able to find information on and about theatrical productions and other various events hosted at the Hibbing Community College theater.
Our Mission
The Mission of HCC Theatre is two-fold
One: To educate, enlighten and foster an appreciation of the performing arts for all students who participate in the theatre, whether it is in the classroom, backstage, or onstage. To this end, opportunities are offered which provide the students with the necessary knowledge and confidence in order to succeed both in the classroom and onstage. For the student who is taking theatre as an elective, the classroom and stage experience can help create a raised awareness and appreciation of theatre, as well as increased personal confidence which can be applied to any field of study. For the student who is serious about pursuing theatre as a career goal, the theatre program can properly prepare the student for the rigors of the profession. This includes coursework, and opportunities to perform. In addition, students who wish to further their studies or enter the profession upon graduation at HCC benefit from a placement advisor who seeks to match each student to a viable program to insure their future growth and success.
Two: To provide the student body and surrounding communities with quality theatrical productions. To this end, HCC Theatre produces at least two major productions each academic year, while hosting and co-producing numerous others, including the HCC choir and band concerts, Northland Broadway Youth Theatre, The Guthrie Theater, Minnesota Dance Theatre, various musical groups, high school play competitions, and guest artists to lead workshops and demonstrations of their work.
The community is encouraged to play an active part in the theatre, working alongside the students in all aspects of production. In addition, HCC Theatre seeks to expand the audience base by an active outreach program, and extensive marketing and promotion. Taken together, HCC Theatre is moving towards becoming the cultural focus of the surrounding communities, providing live entertainment and opportunities for involvement in the performing arts.
