April 1945
The same month President Roosevelt dies, Alsos team members recover 1200 tons of uranium ore the Germans had obtained in 1940. This accounted for almost the entire supply of uranium ore that had been available to the Germans during the war. The ore is transported to the U.S. and processed into atomic bombs.

The Alsos team also captured ten German scientists who had been involved in Uranium research. The scientists were taken to England and detained from July to December 1945 at a country estate called Farm Hall. All of the scientists conversations were secretly recorded and weekly transcripts were sent to General Groves. The ten scientists are listed below.

Otto Hahn
Max von Laue
Walter Gerlach
Werner Heisenberg
Paul Harteck
Carl von Weisacker
Karl Wirtz
Erich Bagge
Horst Korsching
Kurt Diebner
