April 1945
Full scale production of plutonium begins at Hanford. By the end of 1945, 120 kg are produced, enough for 19 Fat Man type bombs.
Three reactors and three remote control chemical separation plants would be built at Hanford during the war. The reactors would operate until the mid 1960's. The chemical separation plants included some of the first televisions in the U.S. Sixteen underground storage tanks for hazardous waste were also built near each separation plant.
