The S-50 thermal diffusion plant at Oak Ridge begins operation with all 2100 columns. Regular weekly shipments of U-235 are now sent to Los Alamos with enrichments of 89%. By July, 50 kg had been received by Los Alamos, enough for Little Boy. By November enough uranium would be available for a second gun assembly device.
